Last weekend during the contests I noticed the trim ring on the big knob of my OMNI-VII was loose. After removing the trim ring, I found a flat rubber band of smaller radii, put it on the big knob, replaced the old trim ring and all was well.... but the fact that I had a non TenTec trim ring on the OMNI-VII was bothersome. Sunday night I ordered new trim rings, one in basic black as the original, and one in orange for high intensity operations where the highly visible orange is easily picked up. The orange trim ring is probably good for a 1 to 5 QSO rate increase per hour during contests. (TFPIC)

Also included in the order was the TT-310 Cooling Fan kit, which when installed allows the OMNI-VII to be run at 100W – 100% duty cycle as in RTTY AFSK or FSK modes.

Ordered all Sunday night, order was processed Monday morning, order delivered Wed. afternoon! Removed the old trim ring and rubber band, installed the new orange trim ring on the OMNI-VII. Now ready for the ARRL DX contest (SSB) this weekend.
