Looking at my manual & notes:
On the cable to the PBF/Front End board, connector 86, bead with 1 turn at
the board connector.
Same on the cable to connector 86 of the Xtal Osc/L.O. Mixer board. Likely
this cable was replaced by a shielded ribbon cable assembly.
On the cable to the Xtal Osc / L.O. Mixer board, connector 82 and 83, bead
on each end of the cable with 1 turn at the board connector.
Add a bead on the cable at connector 92 and 93 on the Logic Board.
Add a 0.1 mf @ 10V tantalum cap on pin 26 to pin 7 of U20. This is 5V to
ground at the IC.
Add a 0.1 mf 10V tantalum cap at pin 40 to pin 20 of U1, pin 24 to 16 of U7.
This is 5V to ground at the IC.
There are several original IDC connectors and associated wiring harness that
was replaced with shielded ribbon cable and connectors. My notes do not
describe exactly which ones. As I stated before of the 6 or 7 radios I've
owned and or modified for others, I do not recall the solution was exactly
the same for every one. I do recall that moving certain wiring harness
assemblies does help in many instances.
Basically I tune 12M and 10M with a dummy load on the radio, RF Gain at max,
making a note of the frequency and level of each birdie. Note if there is a
difference in USB and LSB as well if BPT makes any change. Then moving the
cables or adding the "test bead" will determine if that item has any effect.
If not, move on to the next birdie. If it changes, note same and move on.
Once you get the "list" then you'll have a detail of what needs to be done
and where.
Hope this helps.
