I use a 715 with my Corsair II, Argonaut II and Argonaut VI.  It works 
great!  Might the problems you are seeing be related to impedance 
matching?  There are a number of people here on the list who are audio 
experts, and hopefully they will weigh in on this.  If you could get it 
working, I think it would add a goodly bit of "punch" to your Drake 
audio.  I have not tried my 715 with my Gonset GSB 100 phasing exciter, 
but I suspect that I would have the same sort of problems since it is 
set up for a really high impedance microphone.
