Well we almost agree 100% -- the only point of departure, is that
throwing more money at MY problems would go a very long way to solving
them !! ;-)
I really agree about the importance of good mic technique. It is
amazing how many old hams who harp on the need for good operating
practices, huff and puff and blow into or across the microphone like the
wolf in the fable, or who move or look about while speaking, and their
compatriots on the air blame the band for "fading" or "going long" when
the speaker simply sat back in his chair away from the mic or looked
around, away from the mic, etc., or simply overdrive it
cause more of anything is always better. After all, why do they have
ten marks on the dial if we cannot use 'em all... right? There are some
local guys on the UHF repeater system who huff and puff and blow into
the microphone practically every sentence. I wonder why none of their
friends have ever said anything. There is an old Sicilian adage: "A
friend would tell you if you had dirt on your face.) OH well... cannot
fix every problem.
Happy days - DR.

I hate hearing stations where the compressor limiter
is set incorrectly and you can hear the audio pumping.
