Which mode(s) are you running.
With SSB there is only one issue, with CW there may be more.

I never owned a Corsair II but I believe it has a switchable AMP-KEY line.
I believe you can choose between keying with a transistor or keying with a
relay.
It is quieter to key with the transistor, but if the voltage or current
requirements of the PA's relay are higher, you MUST use the relay, not the
transistor.

Also, current Alpha amps use vacuum relays but I believe the 77 used open
frame relays.
This means it is not capable of following QSK keying.
I don't know if the Corsair has any built in "hang" on its amp-key line, but
I doubt it.
In this case you can solve the problem by buying the Model 318 Amp Key and
using its hang delay.
