Allen:

We'll let me say a hearty congratulations on acquiring this Corsair II. And if it is in truly very great condition, IMHO you will have a CW and Fox Hunting rig which is tough to beat! Makes me real jealous, to be honest.

See, I am talking about this rig's receiver, which will let you listen clear down to well below the band's noise level. And Ten Tec got full break-in (which they invented, I believe) absolutely right on the Corsair II = silky smooth and whisper quiet. Wow!

My suggestion = get the INRAD 400 hz CW filter for it. The Ten Tec filters are pretty good overall, but this 400 hz CW filter is absolutely divine in this rig. And sometimes you can find one used for sale.

Congrats again on a great decision. Let us hear as the saga continues. I'll be looking for you in the Fox Hunts.

Doc/K0EVZ Poppa Fox

The TRITON may become my wee-hour, weak signal DX'er, and the Corsair my week-end, heavy traffic rig. The Corsair is fitted with the 8-pole 9MHz filter, and all three option filters, so I'm expecting it will do a credible job of coping with moderate to heavy QRM.

>> Thanks Barry. I had already had and enjoyed an OMNI V, but when I picked up the TRITON IV and put it into service, I was blown away by how quiet the receiver is. And, it's NB is far more effective than any of my so-called hi-tech rigs. I'm hoping the Corsair receiver is as quiet as the TRITON's, and that the NB works as well too. The NB on my TRITON drops an S9 powerline noise down to S3 without attenuating or distorting desired intelligible signals. It's one handicap is limited selectivity in heavy QRM conditions, but I'm past my era of "competitive" hamming and getting tangled up in toe-to-toe pursuit of rare DX.

The owner tells me that the NB doesn't appear to function, but I haven't yet received the Corsair, so haven't yet been able to check the NB effectiveness myself. Could this be an early production unit that didn't yet have a proper nb?
