[TenTec] Where is TEN-TEC today?

I hear no "death rattle" whatsoever. TT is alive and well. There is no evidence to the contrary. Where do you get your misinformation?

Alpha amps are not "obsoleted" by Alpha. That some tubes are not available is not Alpha's responsibility and how anyone can justify otherwise escapes me. The tube manufacturers make those choices. As hams, we don't use enough of them to justify a dedicated production line for something like 8874s.

You seem to want TT to exist solely by making and selling ham equipment to hams and hams only. I know of no major company that does that -- I think even MFJ depends on non-ham business. So did Hallicrafters, Hammarlund, WRL, Collins, Heath, Johnson, B&W or any of a bunch of others. Times changed in ways they didn't. I don't see anything like that with TT.

The Omni VI Plus is, in my opinion, a great radio that will do all that the non contesting and ego feeding amateur operator needs and would use.

There are Alpha Amps out there that you might be able to get tubes for or may not. I feel sure that if they are doing well, it is because they may build RF Amps for the medical or industrial field.

Lets talk about Alpha/whatever it is today and then maybe we can become more enthused about the marriage. Thanks and 73, John, K5PGW
