[TenTec] A real post and question

I believe the Mega-Sale will bring in new customers to Ten-Tec. Mike Seedman the new owner is a sharp businessman. I have dealt with Mike outside of ham radio. Sure, this could be a fire sale to liquidate inventory, cash out and close the doors. But the bucks are so small, I think no rational businessman would do it. This is a great test of price points!! As far as support of old radios, well there comes a time when you have to say no. Manufacturers stop making key components, then where are you. Ten Tec may have used components that were sole source, not a good idea, but it may have happened. When that source is gone you are out of luck.
This, I am afraid, is a very complex and non-transparent situation. If you are worried that is a fire sale, anyone might consider not buying Ten Tec. I, for one, am looking forward to a stronger company and I am buying these "bargains".

John, I have been buying TenTec radios since the 70's I remember when I had a bad board all TenTec did was swap boards with me. I also remember getting hand written letters on lined paper from Jack Burchfieldl! And my socks were blown off when I heard that TenTec now was getting rid of their Machine shop. But forgetting all that, what I am really scared of now is I will not be able to get my Delta 580 checked out. I better call soon and see If I can get the work done.

Under the present circumstances, if Ten Tec was selling stock for 2 cents a share I wouldn't buy a dimes worth because I wouldn't want to lose my dime. My brother recently bought an Eagle on my recommendation and I feel that I will live to regret it. He bought it fully loaded, all filters, automatic antenna tuner etc. and then Ten Tec, under the guidance of their "newbies" broke it off in him several weeks thereafter. I don't think there will be any additional new Ten Tecs in this family.

>Ten Tec's machine shop, cabinet products and other sidelines have kept Ten Tec afloat for more than 40 years and now in their infinite wisdom they are going to do away with their safety net and it will not be there to keep them going. Al Kahn and Jack Burchfield knew they were competing against Kenwood, Icom and Yaseu who had world wide markets with distributors and dealers all over the world. Ten Tec couldn't even keep dealers in the USA. WE dedicated USA hams were loyal repeat buyers and kept the company going. Now the old building is insufficient and Ten Tec is cutting its' life support system.
