Yes, the circuitry is different. The 81401 IC complement is 2-MC1350P's and 1-LM358N, and it has 6 transistors and 3 diodes. Interface to the NB level and NB width pots (connectors #7 and 22 respectively) are both 2-pin connectors.

  Have you confirmed that the newer board is a completely different design from your old board ? Are the components different ?  I have an Argonaut 505 and the power amp board is a different number from what is shown in the 505 manual. It is identical to the newer boards built for the 509. But the number on the board is not the same.  Back in the day, I have a feeling new boards were tried and superseded without much documentation.

Does anyone else have a Corsair II with the 81401 NB, or any information (schem and interface interconnect) for this NB? The 81401 NB has roughly 2/3 the component count of the 80977, and has no unpopulated holes or device hole patterns. S/N of the Corsair II with the "rogue" NB is 561-02258.
