Not true. Kenwood and ICOM are large communications companies. Kenwood, 
not to be confused with the company whose name they "borrowed" that 
makes kitchen appliances, is still very large in consumer electronics, 
LMR radio, etc. Yaesu is not.

Yaesu is a small private company that only sells ham radios. They were 
bought by Motorola for their Vertex LMR radio brand. When Motorola sold 
off their cell phone business to Google, they sold the Yaesu ham radio 
business to a group of investors (the management of it when it was part 
of Motorola). Motorola kept the Vertex line. Yaesu can only sell ham radios.
