In order to get any significant advantage, I'd say about 10 dB additional 
gain or power is required.  From your 600 watt PEP value this equates to 6 
KW PEP.  Still interested?

By the math, basically going from 600 watts PEP to the legal limit of 1500 
watts PEP then about 4.0 dB of power gain is required.  That nets about 3/4 
S unit increase.

How about option #3 - build your own amp? :-) My rag chew buddies on 80 
meters are pestering me to build my own so they can hear me over the summer 
static crashes when my measly 600 PEP isn't cutting it.
