[TenTec] New Radios in the Future

Geezer! :-)

Heck, I think I'm older then you, Rick.

Nostalgia is a good thing, but there will never be another company like
Heathkit.
It's what we had at the time and, in some ways, they were ahead of their
time.
Even back then, if we accounted for what our time is worth, Heathkits
didn't seem like such a bargain.

I've been involved in the world of software development since the time
when IBM mainframes actually had physical switches on the console.
Those were eliminated years ago, in favor of the terminal-based equivalent.

Now, I'm someone who has always loved switches, knobs and other physical
controls.
In fact, if I could have only one HF transceiver in the shack, it would
be the Kenwood TS-990.
How many of these controls would ever be used, is the question.
It would have to be the only radio on the desk, due to its size and weight.

I embrace the SDR concept, but I miss playing with all of the controls.
The Elecraft K3 and KX3 on the desk are a nice compromise. The Eagle is
there, as well.
