[TenTec] Contesting Now On 17 Meters?

My guess is you are hearing the thousands of DXers calling FT4TA on Tromelin Island.  This is pretty rare DX and has not been on the air since 2002.

FT4TA ops have been very busy operating 24/7 with huge pile-ups and have used a lot of bandwidth with their split operation. The pile-ups and bandwidth used should diminish and the whole thing ends on November 10th.

It is my understanding that contests are still not permitted on WARC bands.  Hang in there --- it will end soon.

| I just noticed that there is now contesting on 17 meters. Is this for all
contest now? Are there really more hams into contesting than those of us that
don't enjoy that part of the hobby?

I like field day, but never turn the score in. Just do it for the fun of
running QRP portable.
