Sorry Don, you're going to need to define "cool".

First, let's be clear; not everyone needs outstanding BDR3 performance.
If you don't, then it's a completely different scenario.
There are lots of reasons to like the FT-2000, but BDR3 performance is not
one of them.
Right out of the box it is probably the worst radio that Rob has tested in
the last 10 years, in terms of BDR3.
He says so in every presentation he gives.

The Network Science roofing filter costs $350.
And from what I've heard (I don't know for certain - just heard/read),
buying one is kind of like playing Russian roulette.  Some customers are
perfectly happy with the results after installing the filter and others are
terribly disappointed.  It seems the manufacturing tolerances are just too
broad, and quality varies too much from case to case.

Trying to manufacture top notch filters at high IF frequencies is very
difficult.
It is much easier to manufacture good quality/tolerance crystals at lower IF
frequencies (i.e. 9 MHz or lower) than it is to manufacture similar at high
frequencies (i.e. 45 MHz or higher).

Once again the problem was in transitioning from hand-built engineering
units to production runs.  While the hand-built units were turning in good
results, the ones in the production run were all over the map.

My comments earlier on the FT-2000 were specifically performance related.  
It's a very feature-rich radio with some interesting but expensive options. 
I know a lot of people who like it.

The FT2000 is a cool radio.
With the Network Science filter it comes in just between the Eagle and the
OM7.

The beauty of FT2000 is a pure analog subreceiver running along with primary
receiver's IF DSP. The merits of each method are easily recognized under
varying condx.
