Well, strictly speaking, RTTY generated via FSK is a carrier mode, however,
RTTY generated via AFSK is an analog mode and still requires care to
preserve linearity.  This is why many of use prefer FSK to assure a clean
signal. It also usually solves "RF on the audio" problems when running AFSK.
But I digress.

Yes, RTTY is a carrier mode much like CW.  PSK is an analog mode as most use
it. Therefore linearity is very important to transmit a good quality signal.
