[TenTec] Way Off Topic, But...

Not so far off topic as it might seem:

The reason for not plugging in more than 3 strings in a daisy chain is that the cheap plugs are not up to the task of carrying current for more than three strings.

Connecting more than that will create a firs hazard but will NOT cause the bulb burnout problem in question.

This is relevant to radio discussions for a good reason. We all operate radios with fairly high current demands. Operation of one at a time may cause no issues, but sometimes people also daisy chain power plugs in the shack. While the circuit providing power to a given outlet may be fused at 15 amps, the actual outlet itself, if not on perfect condition, may not be capable of carrying 15 amps, especially if everything is daisy chained to only one of the two outlet sockets. Thus the outlet can overheat even though there is not enough total current flowing in the circuit to pop the breaker back at the power panel. That is why all safety announcements and warnings specifically tell you to not use multiple power splitting cubes and so on.
