the only 572b tube to buy is from rf parts, most of the 572 tubes out there are rejects from ameritron and rf parts .that being said rf parts is making a brand new 572b go to rf parts .com and read the history of the 572b I encourage every considering 572b to do so good luck n3tmx

Thanks for the info ?Kris.
By the way guys, I put new 811A's from DX Engineering in the Centaur last Friday and ran it hard in the 160 contest over the weekend with no problems.?
On Monday, I went to tune it up on 10 meters to chase the VP8. Well, the amp blew a fuse. Major bummer !!!
I took a look at the 811A's and sure enough, the plates had sagged on all 3 of them.?
I called DX Engineering and asked if they could help. Amazingly, they gave me a full refund, no questions asked. From now on, I'm buying from ham stuff ?them.
I was surprised to find out they had 572B's in stock so I'm gonna try those.

Joe,

My Centaur also reads low in the forward position compared with an external watt
meter. I am not sure what the Ig reality is, but I have ignored the "issue".
I just tune up as per the instructions and figure that it is tuned well with max
output and do not exceed the plate current.

It will be good to see others' comments on this issue.

The "FWD" meter reads low as compared to my in-line watt meter, which I know is
accurate.
I'm OK with that but I'm concerned about the grid current reading, since it uses
the same meter and switch. (I've seen a lot of scuttle-butt about the metering
switches being a problem)
Any input is welcome.
