I have a close friend who lives in an apartment building in the inner city.
He has to run a very narrow IF filter PLUS a top of the line outboard DSP
audio filter PLUS the radio's noise blanker PLUS the rx input attenuator AND
turn the RF gain down and after all that his background QRN level on his 80m
OCF is never less than about S9 on 80--and during waking hours more like
S9+20 dB.  

So I definitely applaud the idea of a separate rx antenna input.
