[TenTec] New TT rigs...thoughts

I'm not sure, Mike, that I'd call the 6N2 a "great" rig. Certainly a "very
good" one, but as I recall, the receiver could have been a touch better --
and there were some mods available to accomplish just that.
That said... much as I'd love to see a 6N2 type rig brought back, I'm not
sure if the market will support it. If memory serves, it wasn't a great
seller (which is why it's a rare find these days), and I seem to recall a
Ten Tec staffer (at the time) tell me that when sales dropped off
significantly due to some rules changes and such, it did not make economic
sense to keep the rig in production.
Let's be blunt. If we want Mike to succeed with the new Ten Tec, he has to
have the company build rigs that will be competitive with other
manufacturer's offerings in that market segment, and that will sell, and
sell well. If the market isn't there, even if it's niche product that looks
nice in the brochure, right now I don't think it would be prudent to pursue
it.
Mike appears to have a good handle on things. He needs time and support.
Let's hope he gets plenty of both!
73, ron w3wn

Don't forget the TT 526 6N2. It is a great rig and is a rare find on
the used market. TT might do well to resurrect it from the "ashes."
