Well... after some more experimenting, I found that the mod had a loud spur at the carrier osc freq of 9.000 MHz. Which makes sense... it's so close to 10.1 MHz that it probably slips through the filters. So I put an LC trap in place and that knocked it well down. The bummer is that the "no tune" mod is now a tune mod. I had to include a trimmer cap to get it exactly on 9.000. So anyway, I will include this on the Tentec Wiki page (eventually - working on that page when I have time!).

>There was once a kit available from Tentec for this, now long gone. WB5JNC and I have been bouncing ideas around on this subject for a couple of months. I finally implemented some of them and modded my Omni D for 10 MHz transmit last week. (Yes - this is the same Omni that quits on me after an hour or so!) I have started writing up the mod at the Tentec Wiki, keep an eye on this page:http://tentecwiki.org/doku.php?id=omni30mmodI have only had time to make a couple of QSOs on 30m so far, but signal reports were good. As far as I can tell without a spectrum analyzer, the output is clean. I listened for likely spurs with a general coverage RX, and the ones that were there were weak, with the receiver sitting basically right under the antenna. Power output is consistent with the bands surrounding it - that is, 20m and 40m. My Omni is a little bit lower-powered on those lower bands, higher on 15m and 10m.-Tom N1OOQ> Perhaps one of you old time TENTEC gurus that lived through the birthcycle of this rig can help me. It is a Model 545 S/N 0025 . Early production . The front panel has a 10.0 Mhz position on it , but there is noapparent circuitry in the radio for generating output on that band. Is there someone aboard the net here , that can advise me of sourcesfor obtaining materials / info / tips / etc on executing the necessarysteps to take to get this rig fired up on 30 Meters. Thanks to anyone who can offer help , in advance. 73 Dave W1DWZ
