Bob, I would strongly recommend placing a 1:1 choke between the openwire and
the Eagle, just in case.

I'm on a casual 80/40 DX kick until the QRN gets bad.
This AM(1145GMT) I hear RA0R calling CQ NA on 7017kc.
I don't know where he is but no one is answering him. Poor guy is just
calling and calling.
Signal is a solid S5 but it's got that watery, can't decide which road to
take, sound. Pure music on the Eagle. I take a look at RBN to see where he
is. Not there. Maybe that's why no one is calling.
I give him a call at 1148 with the Eagle, barefoot to the 80m inverted V.
Bingo. One call and it's on.
559 both ways.
My first Asiatic Russia contact on 40m. Thanks Eagle.
Curiously, the band was not that good. I could not copy any JA stations on
40 and only a few, weakly, on 80 as they worked 6Y2T in Jamaica.
FWIW, the 80m Inv Vee is fed with roughly 130' of 450 Ohm open wire line and
has it's apex at about 70' in the middle of the crown of a tall oak.
The Eagle has the built in tuner. The twin lead is connected directly to a
binding post adapter on the back of the Eagle. No external tuner, no balun,
just wire. It matches up fine on 80 and 40.
