[TenTec] KX3 driving a Herc II??

I recently bit for an Elecraft KX3 to use in SOTA and other portable
situations. In preparing for those, I would like to become more
familiar with its operation by running on HF from my home station.
I am thinking of using it to drive the Herc II amp. I vaguely recall
that there were some issues in keying the Herc in some situations.

Has anyone tried this combo? Could someone point me to the
mod to the Herc that fixed the keying problem in that other
situation?
