[TenTec] TenTec Digest, Vol 208, Issue 6

I replaced the encoders on my Orion 565 a couple of years ago.

I *hate* the replacement encoders with detents.

Is there a way to "fix" them  (i.e., remove the detent mechanism) 
without removing and reinstalling the encoders?
