Hi, Paul,
Since you and I talked on the phone last week, I have purchased a used Elecraft KX3 from a fellow "hound" in the QRP Foxhunt world, which is coming in the mail to me already on Monday. So that means that my 556 Argo Scout will shortly be "extra," as I intend to hang on to just the Argonaut VI as my spare radio and the KX3 as my primary rig.
What do you consider to be a "fair" price for an otherwise very good condition 556 Argo Scout? Make an offer. I purchased my radio used from Ten-Tec Sales in 2007 (it was a trade-in) and operated it as my primary radio for ten years, until 2017, when it was set aside as spare when I purchased your friend's Argonaut VI. I only operated the 556 from home (as I still had my 555 Scout back then to take out in the car during the several years I operated in the Illinois QSO Parties).
I was just yesterday starting to think about putting the 556 up for sale, along with its 701 hand microphone, up to five modules (10, 15, 20, 40, and 80, although I just emailed the person who recently purchased my 555 Scout to see if he still needed the 80M module), an extra power cord with the correct Mate-n-Loc connector, plus a spare TT Model 937 linear power supply (which was made for the Scouts and their Model 526 2 and 6 meter rig, and works with the Argonaut V and Argonaut VI). If you purchase the 556, then I'd start to sell the other pieces separately.

For the Argo 556 I would not need any band modules, as I have
them.
If anyone has one of these for a reasonable price, I would
be interested.
Thanks, Paul, K9OT
