Good Morning all, i have just resurrected ?from the self my Paragon 585 
as a back-up t/rx to my Omni6+, has anybody come up with a suitable fix 
so that the clock retains its memory for more than a couple of days or 
so with power off. Spoils the performance a great radio.

I stopped by their table at ham fest . Had some Alpha amps a Eagle radio and a dipole antenna. I didn?t ask about repair but wouldn?t think Ten Tec repairs will ever happen.
New Ten Tec radio this fall ! Not likely as you would think he would have had a radio box on table with a little sign saying New Radio coming ! 
  If there is a new radio it will have to be a good great radio to sell. It will have to put the Icom 7300 to shame!  Oh by the way Icom rep said they have now sold over 100,000 7300! 
   I would worry about buying a new alpha amp, whether or not Parts will be available or even repair within a reasonable time. Then reasonable repair cost. I think Ten Tec was it a little over $100 an hour when they shut down the repair service. Don?t think there?s a very good track record here.

$145 just to open the box. My last repair experience with the new management did not go as planned: my fault, I guess. About a 5 ? 7 years ago, I sent an Orion to them but failed to note NO USPS. When my box got there by USPS, it sat somewhere and was returned to me untouched. For some reason the TenTec folks would not accept USPS but DHL, Fedex and UPS were A-OK. Oh well.

I've never had a reason to remove the knobs on my Eagle before, and now that I do I can't figure out how to do it.  They have no screws and don't pull off (as far a a can tell.)  The end of the knobs is a matte finish while the rest is glossy, so I thought maybe it pops out.  So far, no good.

Can anyone help me.  I'm thinking of getting an O-VII but I want to fix a "sticky" multi knob before selling the Eagle.

A cutting blade is useful in removing those silver colored metal rings. Gently press the cutting edge into the place where the ring meets the black flange at the back of the knob. Rotate the knob a bit while pressing with the blade and the ring will come off easily. That will indeed expose the 0.050 inch Allen set screw that holds the knob to the shaft.

Yesterday I posted a note asking for info.  In the meantime, I found a 10 year old post by N1EU on the same topic with a link to TENTECWIKI, which didn't work, but I eventually I stumbled my way to the TTW page.  The info I needed was that dual function knobs have two parts and you have to really pull hard to slide the larger knob back and get to an allen key head screw.  

I also learned that the "stickiness" in the multi encoder is just how they are, probably because of the plastic shaft.

"motor-boating" problem @ switch-on with? US amateur possibly Paul or 
John who I think had a N call..

He successfully repaired an? O6 bought at a US Hamvention..

Was a bit off the mark with your forename but glad the other info 
registered with you !

85 today and my Omni VI still shouting at me from the work-bench and I 
think (before its too late) I should make a genuine effort to get it 
back in working order..

Before I go into any great depth Andrew,? would you perchance have? a 
working? Omni VI? whereby we could make oscilloscope and other 
measurement comparisons ?
