After my last ham radio meeting participation, I received few emails from friends asking if it is worth pre-ordering the Ten-Tec Phoenix 594 with a deposit?
I will answer here in public, please.

Pre-orders with a deposit, which are limited to a maximum of 100, save about $700 off the list price, have free shipping, group updates, and the ability to slightly influence the final appearance of the radio.
