Mail from Henrik OZ1ING copied to reflector (with his permission). Not good
news for 160m DXers in Western Europe!
QUOTE:-
Hi John,
I am quite sure that the OZ group mentioned have found 160 M a good band
for
ragchewing locally and there are no reason why they shouldnt persue this in
the upcoming season and for that matter in the future. You see according to
the Danish PTT they can use SSB from 1.830 and upwards. They are not doing
anything "illegal" as towards their license. =A8
It is another ballgame when one compare to the IARU bandplan for "DX"
frequencies....!!!/(*)=3D*=3D(&/&%(&. Frustrated ?.
I dont think any press to the Danish PTT will help. One should probably
apply pressure on the IARU to try to convince the different PTT=B4s to=
 convert
their locally mode/band plan into IARU=B4s. A diplomatic press is the best=
 and
Im sorry to say, the slowest procedure.=20
There are no way that you personnally can convince the OZ group to abort
the
"not gentlement"

Henrik,
Your view about the situation on 1837 and possibly 1833 again is very
depressing. Working 160m DX to the east in the evenings above 1830 in
Western EU will become nearly impossible this winter.
However, the selfish OZ SSB group are causing DELIBERATE SSB QRM on CW
operators and against an internationally agreed bandplan. Therefore they
are breaking the terms of their licence.
Are your PTT so unsympathetic to Ham Radio they will not listen to
complaints like this? Why should a few hooligans spoil the enjoyment of
many?
Are you sure that complaints direct to your PTT and Radio Society will not
help?
A few years ago, following complaints by DL and other hams, and pressure
from the DL Radio Society, the Bundespost stopped the same problem in
Germany by changing the ham allocation for SSB in DL. Thanks again to DJ8WL
and DL1VDL.
Some of the same hams causing trouble on the 1833 net before in DL are
operating on the OZ net .
Please publish the address of your PTT and radio society. I certainly will
write, but it needs the support of others.
Does anyone else have any other ideas how best to clear this problem?
Certainly DX should use 1833/37 as split/QSX EU freq!! (thanks Bill for
idea)
