This may be worth replying to as well as advising your local ARRL director
for the reason that HDTV has taken a big step BACKWARD in the last few weeks
with the announcements by ABC and a smaller group of independents that they
will not use their new allocations for HDTV but rather plain digital TV
service.
It wont be the 1st time the Government created a "hot" policy allowing
liberal shortcuts and then having those beneficiaries of the shortcuts renege
on their parts of the bargain, to wit the huge deficit in collections for the
fees bid for new frequencies. Billions are uncollected and now the industry
says they cant afford to pay the prices THEY BID. Also, remember what
happened to the part of 220 band goig to UPS for a hot new technology? UPS
never used squat.
Now, TV stations may get a premption for HDTV and I will bet regardless of
their construction activities for same will be granted coverage for
exemption. BullS. on that. Lets see who's awake in Newington on this.
