TopBand: ANC-4 vs MFJ Noise Canceller

Maybe the most important advantage of the MFJ at my station is the
ability to vary the main antenna gain. When the signal on the noise port
is too low on the ANC 4 , it cannot be nulled, whereas on the MFJ, the
main antenna gain can be reduced to a point where the noise can be phase
cancelled. While this reduces overall system gain, it can drastically
improve the signal to noise ratio, thereby allowing me to work an
otherwise un-copyable station.
