yesterday we made it! The big vertical is up!
However, we stopped at 50 ft. Some more tubes left but
as we are on a hill on the windward (east) coast of the island,
there is always some breeze, sometimes even more than breeze!
It a very lightweight thing (no its not a TITANEX), just for
such kind of one-man DXpedition, so quite fragile.
Transport length 1.5m (4.5 ft) only. Guyed it twice but will
not withstand a storm anyway.
But it seems to work, got a big pileup yesterday on topband,
in spite of poor condx. So only some EUs made it into the log, sorry!
The QSO rate was not as expected, too much people breaking the
current QSO instead of waiting for my 'TU' to make up their call.
Also, I felt it quite difficult to convince ALL U.S to STANDBY when
looking especially for EUs with their 449 sigs...
If nothing happens, will be on topband again from 02:00z tonight
(jan 01), 1827.5 MHz 1up.
Anybody an idea how to send a morse ',' with CT8?
Please do not send mails like 'thanks...' to me. The SYSOP of N0ZO
gave me more on-time (thanks, PAT), but I dont have the time to load
them down via shortwave anyway.
If you want to send some comments which you feel are not urgent,
please send a normal e-mail to my
company e-mail: wimo-antennen@t-online.de.
Please AFTER jan 10, I'm back in office jan 10 and our staff should
handle our commercial mails and not my private ones, hi...
If you want to send an answer NOW, see the instructions below.
Please keep it as short as possible, thanks.
Yesterday we burned out the SG-231 antenna tuner mounted at the bottom
of the vertical!!! Sh..
Can anybody imagine that the 'reset' pin of the CPU inside is conected
direct to the RESET pin of the jack, without any protection?
So, if you have some volts difference between RF ground and DC ground
(as we have) and you perform a reset by using the wrong ground,
byebye, tuner....
But we brought a manual tuner as a backup. Now some walk is required
for switching bands.....
Will be on St.Vincent until jan 06 but will get down the antennas
on jan 05 eve local time for packing.
My QSL manager is DL2MDZ. Note: ONE USD will NOT cover the airmail
postage out of Germany! Need at least two or an IRC.
The antenna is sold commercialy, contact me later for info.
Enough typing for today....
