I agree, Dave. I just could not get excited about this contest, so only
came in for a few minutes Sat nite, after taking the xyl to a movie and
dinner, to work friends I heard. The weekend was a waste on 160. Who knows
what DX may have lurked beneath the wall-to-wall qrm. Just what is the point
of this contest, anyway? We all (ARRLSections) get a chance to work each
other in the ARRL 160M test in Dec.(CW). Real contesters don't do SSB,
anyway, do they? ;-} (Ducks barrage of flames)

The other point is that 160 has no real band plan, therefore SSB just takes
up the whole band. There was NO DX window, either. NA stations had the
whole window (30--35). Why not have the "WAS contest" in April or
September, when conditions will still be good for stateside, and restrict it
to 1850 and above?
