Hello to All,

Just found this list a couple of days ago. Was out of Ham Radio for 26
years, returned three years ago and have been playing with 160 meters for a
couple of years. I participated in the CW 160 ARRL contest for many years
even when I had no license. I worked multi-op with an old friend WA5NYG.
I have a spot in my heart for 160 because it kept my interest up over the
years in Ham Radio. We worked our first european station in Dec. 1996
Contest. What a thrill.

I have a Ten Tec Corsair 2, and we put up a beverage 2 years ago and never
could get the radio to run using the receive ant jack. I was wondering if
a relay is necessary, or if anyone with a Corsair 2 has used a beverage for
receive. The Corsair would go into oscillation on transmit with Beverage
connected.

Also, is there much IOTA activity on 160 meters? I joined a DX group here
and we are going to Grand Isle LA April 11, 12, 13. I am going to bring a
ballooon and put up a quarter wave vertical with 500 w amp. Looking
forward to running a vertical over salt water, hear it is excellent. Grand
Isle is NA168 I think.

Hope to run into some of you all on the band. Only 100 watts at home and I
am using the feedline to a Zepp up 85 feet as a vertical ant with 5 radials
so far. Will add more in the Spring. I have about 2 acres here and some
100 ft pine trees. Any antenna suggestions would be appreciated. The
vertical (loading the feedline) always outperforms the zepp (225 feet long
at 85 feet high).
