The information on path skewing from Indonesia to Georgia
was most interesting. It appears that Jakarta was selected
as the originating location but YB0ARA/9 is located on West
Irianian, the island shared with Papua New Guinea. N2AU
provided his exact location in the following note:
>Phil is located on the island of Irian Jaya. The other half of the
>island is Papua New Guinea, so he is quite far east compared to other YB
>stations. Phil's location is: South 4 degrees and 24.31 seconds, East
>136 degrees and 52.10 seconds. 30 foot from these co-ordinates is the
>160 meter antenna, an inverted L hung from tall bamboo trees. His QTH
>is quite high in elevation, several thousand feet above sea level, and
>very little man-made noise but plenty of equatorial thunderstorms.
>Art-N2AU (QSL manager for YB0ARA/9)
It would be interesting to look at the path between XZ, S2, VK9X and
W4 as well. Most of us hear those areas coming from the SE on 80
and presumably 160 from December through early February, but some
scientists claim the amount of path skewing for such a path is
impossible.
