I had occasion to erect a temporary Beverage 550 ft long using 5 gallon
pails filled with concrete and stones for support. Masts were 5 ft
posts with 5 ft hockey stick ends on top, electric fence insulators and
galvalum fence wire.
To make a long story short, we had a monster wind recently and in spite
of over 100 lbs on each base the whole thing came down. Most
disappointing! I guess fence posts pounded into the ground each fall
and removed each spring are still best. Just thought that hitting my
"tipover" supports with a snowmobile would be less damaging to the
operator than hitting a steel fence post!
