Not seeing many ARRL 160 Contest reports from abroad, I thought that
I would relay those from Vlad, RV1CC. I don't think that he'd mind...

Hi, Bill!
Thanks for Your answer.
Always glad to get any info from You.
The second contest night was same bad as first.
Nothing heard from NA. I was very tired and upset,
so went to sleep after 00.30UT(really it was better
time for working You). I wake up 5.10UT(my sunrise
6.42UT) and was listening band until 6.30. Again nobody,
only few EU stations were calling "CQ test" without response.
In the middle of the contest I checked Auroral Activity Extrapolar
NOAA server and found that sometimes activity was very high,
about 7 to 10!!! Usually number 6 activity is unable work NA from
my location.
Same things was on 160m in CQWW CW. Propogation wasn't good
(especially first night). Only VA1A heard, who was sometimes as
local station. Althoug RU1A team did work on 160m 82 countries and
22 zones using "Inverted L"(vertical part - 30-32m). They worked
KC1XX only from USA. But on 80m was using 3el Yagi(tower 40m, boom
32m, reflector 44m!!!). As result on 80m: 130count/35zones!
I worked only one new country on 160m in contest: JX7DFA.
...
73! Best wishes to You from St.Petersburg! Vladimir, RV1CC
