I think Art has the answer.

On the recent poor nights to Europe, moving up 40 and even 20 is wide open
to the normal 160 path.

As the solar flux goes up, I always expect 160 to suffer. It is, however,
still quite good on some paths on some days. It's just a matter of people
being there on both ends.
