Hi Ty,

My regular FT-1000 suffers from too much gain ahead of the narrow filters
in the lower IF's, particularly on 160 meters. I don't know how the MP
compares, but the last thing the regular 1000 needs is more gain before the
narrow 8 MHz filters on TopBand !
On quiet days, it needs more amplification when using narrow filters on CW.
Running the preamp causes it to suffer from IMD (the IMD sounds like
garbled CW, like listening to a novice band with the BFO off) from close by
strong CW signals.
I'm thinking of adding more gain just after the 8 MHz narrow filters and
reducing front end gain. Anyone tried that?
Also if there is a mod to slow the tuning rate down, can someone please
give me the source?
