There has been some discussions lately that has included references to 1/8
wave length radials. For those of a technical frame of mind who would like
to do some research on this, I would refer you to the works by the inventor
of this concept, Les Moxon, G6XN.

In the first edition of his "HF Antennas for All Locations," published by
the RSGB, try pages 154 - 157. In the second edition, look at pages 182 - 185.

A practical application of these ideas can be found in the ARRL Antenna
Compendium Volume 2, in an article entitled "A Multi-band Loaded
Counterpoise for Vertical Antennas" (pages 42 - 45) by H. Ley Jr. N3CDR.
N3CDR gives generous credit to G6XN.

It is a shame G6XN is not more widely known as the inventor of this
extremely useful technique for low (and HF) band enthusiasts. They should
really be known as G6XN loaded radials.

Many 73,

Steve, VK6VZ
