Yuri,

I'd guess that this change is more due to problems with the AM BCB 
retransmitting equipment than with changes in the environment.
Retransmitting broadcast signals is fairly common in major tunnels,
stadiums, etc. using a variety of types of retransmitting equipment
and antennas (most commonly "leaky" coax).  I installed such a system
inside of the University of Nebraska's Devaney Sports Center so that
play-by-play broadcasts could be better heard inside.
