Topband: DX

Hi friends,

while working some on 80 last night I switched on my R-390A just to check
out 160. Was I ever surprised folks !!! Around 2230z on 1830.4kc there was
quite a huge pile-up. People were calling a VK. I could just barely hear
him but the Europeans who were calling him were real loud. Quite a few US
stations as well, with 339, 449, 559 signals here at my QTH. I listened for
about 20 minutes forgetting all about 80, wishing I could have joined the
action... 

I´m afraid I´ve caught the TopBand bug for good. Now, is there anything to
worry about ??? Anything my XYL should know ???

Is there any publication about the weird quirks of TopBand propagation, in
whatever form (printed or electronic) ???
