Saw Ken ZL2HU yesterday and sighted the sample of the ZL9 QSL's which are
now on the way from Yaesu. Ken has wisely decided that because of the
number of direct QSL's still being received they will commence answering
during April & May and do one large posting early June. The print out of
the logs looks magnificient -- 6 bound volumes of 96,005 contacts !!
Regret conditions still very poor down here for last weekends contest. We
have had small aurora most nights for the past week however sunset Sunday
(0655z) saw a brief opening. W3LPL was first in at 0635z but didn't hear
me until 0645z. From then on signals kept popping in and out very quickly
from W1 2's 3's 8's and 9's until 0720z when N0AV was the last in . Later
at 0945z W8JI was S9 but also faded quickly because of the aurora . Note
for Trey and Bill---- the signal from HC8L was vy strong for over one hour
from 0645z so the antenna is certainly working real great.
Best wishes and 73 all.
Jim ZL2JR.
