Good morning,
Cndx to North America were unbelievable last night...Nov 9 1115 to 1215z.
Unfortunately I had to QRTat 1215z. Many signals were a genuine S9 and some
over...QRN was S5 with crashes to S7. These were the strongest North
American signals that I have ever heard in over 50 years of listening on
the band and that includes pre 1969 from G land.
Of possible interest the following have been heard...zones 18 & 19
....UA0UAG, UA0MF, RU0AI, UA0WU.
HL3IUA hangs around 1824 but has ben mostly QRV in the 2000/2100z time
slot...he seems to have rx problems. The VQ9 gang are a beacon every night
on 1828 at their sunset and occasionally they have been heard from 2030z.
I am still trying to catch up on lost sleep as I have been getting on the
band at 1930z...0330 local..chasing the CN8, ZX0 and 9U. At least my
efforts have been rewarded and I have been provided with one of those rare
moments when all the that lack of sleep is worthwhile. Joerg, 5C8M, kindly
answered one of my CQ calls to give me a new one..tnx Joerg. Jeff, K1ZM,
provided me with one of those 160 unbelievable moments. A call to ZX0F,
just before sunrise brought a weak, auroral fluttery signal on the
frequency....yes it was calling me....in and out of the noise... I got ZX
and then X0 and then the whole call .I went back with my report and
unfortunately a couple of stations must have decided that I did not really
want to work the ZX0 but them instead!!!! Thanks to Jeff staying in there
after a couple more overs the report was in the log. WOW! 30 seconds later
he had gone. Thanks a million Jeff!
Apologies for the bandwidth, I am still on cloud 9!
