After a week of watching Joerg 5C8M reported on the DX cluster, but hearing
nothing, his signals were finally heard in VK6 today.
Band conditions finally improved to Europe this morning, with a variety of
stations being heard, mainly from northern Europe and the old USSR.
At 2123Z - just on my sunrise in Perth - I heard a pile-up of weak
Europeans calling just above 1.831. Out of the noise suddenly came 5C8M,
at RST449.
After calling like a maniac in the pile-up I heard 5C8M work two more
stations and then disappear/QSY/fade-out about 2126Z. After that I was
called by Lou PA0LOU who had heard me calling Joerg and we had a quick QSO.
If anyone has the chance, please can they alert 5C8M to the fact that he
was heard in VK6 today and that Mike VK6HD and I will try again tomorrow,
before the start of the CQ WW SSB. Joerg has been terrific, calling CQ VK
at times, to try and work us on 160m, but the good conditions have just not
been there.
It looks like there is a very small window from VK6 into CN8 of maybe only
3 or 4 minutes around our sunset times. Mike's sunset tomorrow is at
2110Z, whilst mine is 2122Z. We will be in there trying again for you, Joerg!

Steve, VK6VZ
