Topband: Lightning Statistical Data

Hello All!

        Dietmar DL3DXX asked me an interesting question that perhaps
someone has already researched.  Does anyone know of a Website that
shows statistical data for lightning strikes by location and by
date?  A global map showing lightning probability by month would
be ideal.  This would be very useful for people planning expeditions
to minimize QRN effects from lightning.  If anyone has any info please
forward and I will summarize for all.
