K7PUC said about the Omni-6+:

  More explanation desired

I had the -6 & imagine the -6+ is the same. The LO is crystal based, so not
much phase noise contribution from there. The VFO is synthesized, but the
bit Al didn't catch from the manual is that it actually operates at 200-odd Mc.
Dividing it down by 40 is beneficial in respect to phase noise, but at such
an early hour of the morning & after only one cup of tea, the detail
temporarily
escapes me.

Hopefully the -6+ has improved on the -6 when it comes to EMC. That radio
had no attempt made at stopping RF coming in on leads connected to it &
based on how it reacted on the upper bands in my apartment antenna
situation, there is _no_ way it would've functioned with power on 160.

Luckily, typical JA stations are like mine, so rigs from there can hack
it. But
I wonder how they can live with these rigs in terms of phase noise - both on
RX & TX - say in a city where there's a number of like equipped stations in
close proximity? Perhaps in time this will force the manufacturers to improve
this & the other basic parameters, rather than focus on the zippidy-do-dah
bits.
