Topband: Wideband Noise

I went on a noise hunt in my house even to the point of
actually pulling dimmer controls out of the wall to see
if anything changed.  After exhausting all possible sources,
I said to myself what else is drawing power in the house.
The source of my noise........ Television sets that are
plugged in but not on!  Check that out.  I also found 
noise coming out of a telephone answering machine, my
VCR and other small electronic devices such as digital
clocks.  Use a small handheld AM receiver as I did as
your test equipment.  You will be surprised at what you
find.
