There has virtually been NO propagation/signals from close to the Gulf
of Mexico, and K5JZ or I have been listening most days with no joy at
all.... until the 21, 22, and 23. Signals have still been bad, but they
have been there. Signals on the 22nd and 23rd have been the best. K5JZ
is copying them Q5 and S3 when their signal is good on a windom, and I
am getting them about the same 50 miles north (on a set of five
Beverages). Signals have _never_ been above a 449 or 459 here so we are
getting no periods of loud signal strength such as being reported
elsewhere. Signals have a deep QSB, up for maybe a minute, then down for
several minutes, and alternating. On 1/23 (Sunday) morning, their
signals were clearly best on my NW Beverage, with nothing on the SW
Beverage at 11:30 - 12:00. 270 degree. The West Beverage always
less-good than NW this morning (all Beverages are 590 feet). Their
signal is peaking about 45 minutes to an hour before sunrise, and then
largely gone just before sunrise. No sunrise peak at all here.
We were having a big storm here in Mississippi so lots of QRN even on
the Beverages. Heard K5UR get through from Arkansas and several others,
but no joy here either for K5JZ or myself.
No one said this was going to be easy.....
