There are a few MF aero-beacons located here in PNG. They do not have high power
but do have professionally built large format antennas with excellent ground
planes, so may be heard as real DX.
A short list follows, power levels are about the 50-100W mark, but as you all
know that's only the start of a good signal.
1615 Nadzab locator near Lae on the North coast CWID = NZ
1623 Gurney NDBon the eastern promontory of PNG CWID - GNY
1632 At the Ok Tedi Mine site. located on Mt Robinson I believe CWID = OKT
1642 Moro is the airfield for the PNG oil and gas development CWID = MOR
1662 Kubuna is west of Port Moresby as a locator for approach CW ID = KUB
1689 Mount Hagen in central to PNG and at about 1700M asl CWID = MH
1692 Kuinga is on the northern side of the country. CWID = KIU
1725 Goroka is in the Eastern Highjlands about 1600M asl CWID = GA
1737 Kutubu is another beacon at the oil development. This is a carrier + USB
ID = KUT

All are intended as aviation beacons and the MF band is used because there is
less RDF error for plots using them for directional heading information. I
helped test various units and implement those that were suitable to PNG in the
70's, a long time ago now! Most have been replaced no with more modern
equipment from Canada.
