Since you're only going to use it on 160, I would recommend doing
something OUTSIDE the amp such as a T-match network at the output
connector.  Switch it in or out as necessary.  You might even try
installing a coax T-connector at the output jack, one side going to the
antenna and the other side to a variable capacitor to ground.  Or just
use a tuner.  

No need to modify such a great amp!  I built mine in '89 and it's still
going strong.  Replaced the tube when it went soft, but otherwise no
problems.
