Topband: DSP 599zx version 5

I upgraded my Timewave 599zx about 2 weeks ago to
version 5. I am amazed at the performance when using
the new CW spotlight mode. When  the sigs get weak, I
usually crank the bandwidth down to the point where I
can no longer tollorate the ringing which usually is
arounf 50 hz. This spotlight feature allows me to
crank down the bw to 10 hz with no ringing at all!
Yes, I know it does this by bugging up the skirts of
the filter and thus its overall performance as a sharp
filter. However, the effect is that I can tighten up
the filter as sharp as I want and not have to listen
to the ringing. On a quiet band, this is very
effective.

For those of you who have not upgraded, I would
suggest doing so. Its on of the best RX investments I
made in a long time.
